Job Description

The Nursing Manager maintains nursing staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training clinical staff. Plans and implements the overall nursing policies, procedures, and services for a unit. Being a Nursing Manager may provide direct patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and evaluating patients. Ensures that nurses are current in competencies, assessments, licensure, certifications, and other annual training. In addition, Nursing Manager must be a registered nurse with at least 5 years of clinical experience in a related field. Typically reports to top management. The Nursing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.
