The Radiation Protection Technician I ensures all meters and monitoring equipment is correctly calibrated and maintained. Performs and documents routine radiation and contamination surveys to detect radioactivity levels. Being a Radiation Protection Technician I follows standard procedures to respond to and report incidents. May assist in distributing and collecting personal dosimeters or conducting safety training. In addition, Radiation Protection Technician I typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Being a Radiation Protection Technician I works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Working as a Radiation Protection Technician I typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
