Job Description

The Radiation Therapist I maintains patient charts, noting such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Being a Radiation Therapist I may require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Consults with radiation oncologists and other clinical staff as needed. In addition, Radiation Therapist I typically requires graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program, certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a physician or manager. Being a Radiation Therapist I occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.
