Job Description

The Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Being a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I may require an associate degree in a related area. Records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. In addition, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Being a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Working as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer I typically requires 0-2 years of related experience.
