Job Description

The Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer III performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Being a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer III may require an associate degree in a related area. Records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. In addition, Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer III typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. Being a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer III work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.
