The Tool & Instrument Calibration Supervisor oversees and performs routine inspection and testing to ensure conformance to established calibration standards. Supervises the calibration, maintenance and repairs of equipment or instruments used to measure and monitor properties or conditions of manufacturing products and environments. Being a Tool & Instrument Calibration Supervisor understands industry and quality concepts and standards such as ISO, GMP, NIST. Trains staff on new equipment calibration and best calibration practices, and researches and troubleshoots complex problems. In addition, Tool & Instrument Calibration Supervisor typically requires an associate degree and graduation from a technical or trade school. May require Certified Calibration Technician (CCT). May require Precision Measurement Equipment Laboratory (PMEL). Typically reports to a manager. The Tool & Instrument Calibration Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department.
