Provides leadership and oversight to the design and development of new mechanical engineering initiatives and projects. In addition, VP of Mechanical Systems Engineering designs and manages departmental budgets, allocates resources effectively, and identifies cost-saving opportunities to optimize business performance and profitability. Researches new technologies or engineering processes and collaborates with other departments to identify potential products or projects. Typically requires a master's degree in mechanical engineering. Typically reports to top management. The VP of Mechanical Systems Engineering manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Working as a VP of Mechanical Systems Engineering typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.
