Oversees the planning and analysis of an organization's risk management function. Being a VP of Risk Management reviews financial models to understand the risk exposure of an organization's assets. Monitors the effectiveness of procedures to identify points of improvement. In addition, VP of Risk Management develops training and educational materials to identify and mitigate risks. Promotes organization-wide understanding of risks and risk management strategies. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The VP of Risk Management manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Working as a VP of Risk Management typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.
