Tests for structural soundness and inspects fittings, feed pumps, safety and check valves, water and pressure gauges, and controls to ensure boilers operate safely and efficiently. Being a Boilermaker III reads and uses blueprints to determine locations, positions, or dimensions of parts. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Boilermaker III typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Requires completion of an apprenticeship program. The Boilermaker III has gained full proficiency in a broad range of activities related to the job. Independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors.
