Summary

Multi-Media Producer will be responsible for creating digital visual content across numerous AARP digital channels, inclusive of AARP social networking sites, website, apps and events.

The Multi-Media Producer will possess strong writing skills and background that stems from working on a variety of multifaceted creative experiences with a passion for journalistic and engaging storytelling, and will be responsible for bringing that story to life across multiple digital platforms. Whether to educate, entertain or inspire, this will mean translating AARP’s policies, advocacy, social impact and member value goals into relevant and meaningful content for our audience.

Due to AARP’s increased production of digital content and a move towards integrated digital communication, the Multi-Media Producer must possess an ability to develop programming strategies that complement the overarching community content strategy on and for multiple platforms.

In a team, the Multi-Media Producer will work collaboratively with a Community Strategists and Platform Coordinators to optimize integrated community content for various business units and distribution.

The Multi-Media Producer will also be expected to work closely with, as well as produce cross platform content for AARP Magazine, Bulletin Today and AARP.org. Externally, the Multi-Media Producer will be expected to collaborate with outsourced creative partners to develop award- winning and impacting high quality digital content for AARP.

Responsibilities
  • Conceives, writes, produces and contributes news, feature and related content on subjects of interest to the AARP demographic for use on digital, print and other platforms.
  • Understand and manage a budget throughout the life of the project, including reporting and providing visibility into the project’s financial health.
  • Collaborate with external creative partners to produce and write pre-approved scripts and concepts for a pre-determined AARP audience.
  • Predetermine the business goals that the content should drive and develop a program strategy against those goals.
  • Develop and execute both short and long format content for multiple digital platforms that educates, entertains or inspires an audience.
  • Skillfully writes script(s) with visual concept in advance of shoot to provide film crew to create content for appropriate platforms.
  • Prepares and provides editorial script (s) with visuals to work with the video editor. to create content for appropriate platforms.
  • Demonstrate an ability to produce effective content for multi-media platforms and provide reporting on the effectiveness of that content.
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of a wide variety of subjects important to the AARP demographic.
  • Collaborates with enterprise-wide colleagues to develop unique story ideas to cover the broad range of AARP programs, initiatives and activities.
  • Constantly offers imaginative and insightful ideas for content development and digital formats.
  • Develops and maintains deep knowledge of AARP and its priorities, social mission and goals.
  • Active Practices within digital and emerging platforms. 
  • Creates content highlighting AARP views, priorities and positions for enterprise-wide communications.
  • Collaborate with the Community Strategist to optimize the content for social sharing in the most effective integrated manner.
Requirements
  • Bachelor degree in journalism, communications, Digital/Television or a related discipline.
  • 6+ years of experience Producing, scripting and executing digital content
  • Excellence in writing, scripting, editing, and journalistic storytelling skills.
  • Ability to write about complex subjects in effective and appealing ways and a proven record of developing stories and understanding of journalistic and engaging story-telling for multiple platforms
  • Able to work collaboratively, closely and effectively with executive team and subject matter experts across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle appropriate work load efficiently and effectively and manage assignments, meet deadlines and contribute creative ideas.
  • Must have on set experience working and managing a small crew on a film/video set and able to conduct thoughtful and journalistic interviews
  • Field producing interviewing experience is a must and the ability to multi-task and prioritize an array of duties and assignments
  • Must exhibit outstanding skills in written communication, with the experience to translate and adapt projects to sound off digital strategies as needed per platform
  • Must exhibit outstanding skills in verbal communication, building and maintaining relationships, as well as conducting research ¿
  • Superior working knowledge of the Internet, audio, and video editing software, and content management systems and data reporting
  • Must have experience and a high comfort level in working with and distributing content on digital channels such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, LinkedIn an online website content.
  • Ability to manage production partnerships, forge new alliances, and to work cross- divisionally within AARP’s broad organization
