Accela’s Controller will direct all accounting, treasury, and statutory reporting activities of the global organization. You’ll safeguard the financial resources of the company by building and monitoring the financial control environment, as well as ensuring we remain compliant with tax regulations. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
In addition to a strong academic background in accounting, the successful candidate will:
- Have significant relevant experience in the software industry
- Be a CPA
- Bring technical accounting experience
- Have a demonstrated ability to take ownership of and improve financial processes, systems, and controls
- Demonstrate relevant experience in typical tax matters, e.g. sales tax, transfer pricing, municipal taxes
- Possess a passion for building a high-performing team
Accela needs a Controller who can be hands-on when required, lead and delegate where appropriate, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will ensure that systems, accounts, reports, policies, and practices adhere to GAAP. Strong leadership skills are essential, with the ability to build, motivate, mentor, and challenge the organization to continuously improve.
We further desire a candidate with Big 4 or national accounting firm experience, as well as someone who has implemented ASC 606, particularly multiple-element contracts. Exposure to a variety of software industry business models, such as perpetual license, SaaS, and professional services, is also desired. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are always appreciated, and the flexibility to perform in a fast-paced, dynamic environment will be key to success in the role. NetSuite skills, including the revenue modules (ARM and DDR), are also valuable but not required.
