Job Details

A CUSTODIAN is responsible for the internal cleanliness and appearance of the building and how the appearance reflects on the Seattle Indian Health Board. It is important for a CUSTODIAN to be careful and thorough in cleaning, sanitizing, and tidying the premises.
 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Consults with Director to identify and address custodial needs at Leschi Clinic & TTC
• Serves as the liaison between SIHB & custodial contractor to ensure:
  • Trash is picked up and trash liners are replaced as needed
  • Floors are vacuumed, mopped, striped and waxed, and all floor areas are swept
  • Dust, wall spot, clean all glass, polish, sanitize all areas
  • Wash, clean, wipe down, sponge, rinse, scour and disinfect any assigned work area
• Note and report all areas in need of repair and any hazardous condition requiring correction
• Adhere to all safety rules and requirements and all policies and procedures
• Periodically check lavatories during the day, replenish supplies as needed
• Give assistance to administration and facilities
• Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
• Knowledge of safe disposal of chemical liquids and other hazardous components
• Attention to detail and conscientiousness
• Secure facilities after operating hours by turning off lights, locking doors, closing windows and setting the alarm
• Actively participate in internal quality-improvement teams and work with members proactively to drive quality-improvement initiatives in accordance with the mission and strategic goals of the organization, federal/state/local laws and regulations, and accreditation standards.
• Work well under pressure, meet multiple and often competing deadlines.
• At all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, clients and the community.
• The preferred candidate should have an interest in assisting and working with the American Indian/Alaska Native population; knowledge of the health and social issues facing this demographic is a plus.
• Performs other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must have at least 3 years of relevant experience
• High school diploma or its equivalent. A combination of education and experience will be accepted.
• Proficiency in use of custodial, plumbing, and other maintenance tools/equipment.
• Lifting requirements up to 15 lbs.
• Intermediate computer skills
• High School diploma or GED 

Special Requirements:

• Ability to lift 15 lbs. 
• Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and evenings, if needed.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check required.
