Bartender
Reports to: Food & Beverage Manager
The Bartender’s essential purpose is to ensure timely and professional service of beverages to hotel bar and restaurant guests while adding personal recommendations and touches to achieve maximum customer satisfaction while complying with brand standards and company policies. The following reflects the essential job duties but does not restrict tasks that may be assigned. Duties of this job may be changed at management’s discretion.
Duties include:
• Collect payments for drinks/meals served.
• Check identification of customers in order to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
• Balance cash receipts
• Attempt to limit problem and liability related to customer’s excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering transportation for intoxicated patrons
• Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
• Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons
• Serve snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar
• Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
• Order or requisition liquors and supplies
• Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services; gives entertainment suggestions and travel directions
• Welcome guests and respond to requests in a prompt and professional manner
• Check the working condition of equipment and report to supervisor all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment
• Know all safety and emergency procedures
• Maintain awareness of all rates
• Communicate with the previous and following shifts
• Ensure compliance with energy conservation and job safety requirements
• Proactively maintain assigned areas and equipment
• Move, lift, carry and place objects weighing up to 40 lbs. without assistance and in excess of 40 lbs. with assistance
• Ensure efficient completion of daily assignments in a timely manner
• Report all safety concerns to management
• Attend and participate in all mandatory trainings and meetings
• Flexible with schedule and assignments
• Maintain effective performance under pressure
• May perform similar duties as requested by supervisor
Requirements:
• Must hold all mandatory certificates based upon brand and area requirements
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to work independently and with others
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to give and follow verbal and written instructions
• Attention to detail
