Summary

The Product Owner identifies and manages product requirements, prioritizes the engineering team’s work on features and bugs, and supports feature launch and rollout processes. The Product Owner holds the vision that is executed by the Agile team. The Product Owner is also responsible for capturing product ideas from relevant stakeholders, converting them into fully researched and fleshed out features, working with the engineering team during grooming sessions to translate those features into user stories, and validating the feature before the release. The Product Owner has the ability to shape the future of our products through his/her insights, analysis and ability to define, communicate and realize a vision.

 

Challenges

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for one or more of our development Agile teams
  • Create, maintain, prioritize and sequence the team backlog according to business value and existing commitments
  • Work with the Product and User Experience teams to provide detailed guidance and prioritization during the product development process in an Agile environment
  • Assist with the elaboration of Epics, and Features into user stories that are granular enough to be achieved in a single sprint
  • Assist the product, engineering, and scrum team during regular ceremonies: feature review, grooming, sprint plans and demos by being the voice of the customer and communicating the value behind each product and prioritization decision
  • Inspect the product progress at the end of every Sprint to accept or reject work done
  • Conduct user acceptance testing on features and bug fixes before they are released, ensuring the high quality of products that are being delivered to customers
  • Communicate to Leadership, Customer Success, Support and other stakeholders rollout plans, feature details and bug status updates
  • Conduct stakeholder product training
  • Maintain compliant product documentation per SproutLoud standards
  • Make key decisions and judgments on own

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or Business
  • At least 3 years of software product experience, preferably in a SaaS environment
  • Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products 
  • High energy, can-do attitude with willingness to do what it takes to get things done 
  • Highly quantitative, analytical and business-minded 
  • Ability to solve complex problems in an organized way 
  • Extraordinary attention to detail, including ability to anticipate likely outcomes/assess risks 
  • Comfortable working closely with Engineering and experience with Agile development teams 
  • Superior communication skills, both verbal and written - and ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership 

 

 

Not required, but would be a plus

  • Knowledge of e-commerce, multichannel commerce, online retailing, website user experience, website testing and other marketing strategies
  • Project management experience in an agile environment
