Therapy is used to alleviate pain and restore physical functions. Physical Therapy may also be employed as a preventative tool by developing exercise programs that promote wellness. Therapy can be provided to patients in outpatient settings such as clinics, fitness centers, and private practice as well as in hospitals and nursing homes. Therapy may utilize combinations of exercises and training, massage, and the application of techniques using ultrasound or electrotherapy. Therapy is delivered to patients by Physical Therapists who are assisted by Physical Therapist Assistants. Physical Therapy Aides may also be part of the team that delivers physical therapy services to a patient.
