A property & casualty insurance client has a full-time opening for an Underwriter. The role of the Underwriter is to assess property and casualty risks to determine appropriate costs, terms, and parameters to insure the risk, review and analyze risk characteristics on insurance applications and change requests, and assist Director of Underwriting in new business development. The Underwriter also utilizes underwriting guidelines, rules, standards, and levels of authority to accept, reject, or mitigate risk for applications and determine appropriate premiums, limits, and coverages. Duties: Reviews insurance applications along with accident and claims history, exposures, and other factors to determine acceptable risk Assist with Underwriting coverage for property and casualty, workers’ compensation coverage, and student accident plans Prepare reports and participate in meetings related to the renewal of Property/Casualty and Workers’ Compensation Programs Answers inquiries from prospects
