POSITION SUMMARY: This recruitment will be used to fill five (5) full time Temporary Biological Science Research Technician 1 positions (3 Hermiston, 2 in Milton-Freewater). Inspections must be done within a narrow window of opportunity due to the growth cycle of corn in hot weather and effective time management is critical for conducting successful inspections. Work will be performed independently within the geographic area assigned to this position. The workload can vary and may be physically demanding. The majority of work is performed outside with exposure to sun and pollen for extended periods throughout a typical work schedule of up to eight hours a day, and between five to seven days a week. Teamwork is critical for a successful outcome. Safety is a priority in all aspects of this job, especially with regard to the required volume of driving from field to field and exposure to hot weather. Overview: Hourly Rate: Min: $17.38 Max: $25.24 DEFINITION OF POSITION: The Lab Assistant is responsible to the Laboratory Manager and/or Laboratory Director. The primary responsibility of the Lab Assistant is to collect a variety of specimen types from pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Performs laboratory duties including the use of the Lab Information System (LIS) to place and receive orders; retrieve patient test results and other information. In addition to these duties the Lab Assistant prepares requisitions, maintains a filing system, prints, and delivers reports, provides data collection support, process and distributes laboratory samples and provides phone communication functions. The Lab Assistant will assist in the performance of basic laboratory testing under the direction of a Medical Technologist. May perform and furnish results for waived testing procedure(s) to Medical Technicians/Technologists for recording in Meditech as assigned by the laboratory Le
