Fiber Design Technician Onsite, Lakeland, FL 6-month contract-to-hire GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF CLASS This skilled technical position in the Telecom division of the Information Technology Department is responsible for the record keeping and documentation of the citys fiber optic network. Responsibilities include maintaining the Outside Plant as-built records of fiber strand configurations in the Fiber Management database, fiber cable (level 2) records of cable buffers within splices in MicroStation drawings, and cable and all related infrastructure in the citys GIS database. This position is also responsible for the daily technical coordination with Telecom Engineering and Fiber Technicians to ensure that, from design to as-built, documentation accuracy of City of Lakeland records is maintained.
