What do we want?
We are looking for maternity leave cover for a buyer in our wine department. You will work closely with our Head of Wine on range reviews and category development.
There will be occasions where you will attend supplier visits in the UK and overseas.
Analyzing data is important in this role, we utilize systems such as Power BI and JDE and experience with those is advantageous. You will be required to have a comprehensive understanding of wine and an ability to manage and maintain data. The ability to identify market/seasonal trends/potential upcoming shortages/cost savings and commercial opportunities. You will identify poor performing lines whilst paying attention to product lifecycle.
You will create design briefs and work with our design team on packaging to ensure the wine fits within the category and has all legal mandatories.
Other responsibilities of this role will be quality controlling products to ensure wine is in spec, managing reporting and responding to any customer complaints with regards to the safety of the product and creating a monthly internal wine newsletter.
You will embrace every opportunity to manage relationships with existing suppliers and some that have been supplying Adnams for several generations. Your previous experience of building strong relationships will enable you to seek new suppliers for products for both our retail division and also trade sales.
The successful candidate will hold a minimum WSET Level 2 qualification and have at least 5 years industry experience in the on or off trade. We are open minded to a candidate with less experience but with a can-do attitude and willingness to learn. It is vital that you are computer literate and proficient in the use of Excel and PowerPoint.
