Alan Keef Limited are looking for a self-motivated draughtsperson who can work alongside the designer and engineers at our company. This is an important role for our business, and you will have an involvement with all stages of our projects from our initial design drawings through to the postproduction amendments. Our new draughtsperson will form an important part of a multidisciplinary engineering team and will be mainly based at our head office in the Lea near Ross-on-Wye.
Each of our projects is unique and so the individual we’re looking for must be able to adapt to the changes and assist in developing several concurrent and differing projects to ensure each project leaves on time, on budget and to the high standard we have built our reputation on.

Draftsperson responsibilities will include:
- liaising with the designer and engineers to gather product and structural requirements and designs, calculating dimensions, and incorporating the knowledge gained to create detailed drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- creating both rough sketches and detailed design work with computer-aided design (CAD) software systems.
- preparing, reviewing, and redrafting rough sketches alongside the engineering team to ensure final designs are accurate and comply with in-house quality standards and legal regulations.
- redesigning of products to improve functionality.
- the ability to create a bill of materials from designs
- helping identify potential operational issues and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team.
- calculating dimensions and weight limitations.
- describing production methods step-by-step, including equipment and software types to be used and being able to design diagrams, maps, and layouts to illustrate workflow.
- creating manuals that describe existing products’ operation, features, and maintenance.
Draughtsperson role requirements will demonstrate:
- proven work experience as a draughtsperson or in a similar role.
- a recognised engineering qualification.
- hands-on experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- familiarity with 3D modelling tools, preferably SolidWorks.
- knowledge of electrical diagrams would be beneficial
- an ability to work well in a team and on your own.
- good maths skills.
- an ability to meet deadlines.
- an ability to draw manually would be favourable, but this is not essential.
- a calculated response to criticism and an ability to maintain a positive attitude.
