Job Title: Desktop Publishing (DTP) Specialist

Client Location: Bank/Aldgate (Fully onsite 5 days a week)

Salary/Pay Rate: £347.82 p/d Umbrella or £269.25 p/d PAYE

Hours: Full-time

Duration: until the end of December 2024 (w/ potential to extend)


Aquent is helping our client, a leading reinsurance broker, recruit a Senior Desktop Publishing (DTP) Specialist to join their Global Sales Operations team. In this role, you will work alongside the Lead Graphic Designer to create, edit and format high-quality documents using branded and ad-hoc bespoke templates. The work is cross-platform using MS Office 16 and Adobe Creative Suite.


You must be an experienced DTP designer with excellent PowerPoint, and Word skills as well as InDesign and Illustrator.


Based in London (Bank/Aldgate), you will work closely with global sales colleagues and brokers/analysts to provide DTP support on competitive tenders and other sales opportunities. Therefore, this role will require you to work onsite 5 days a week. This contract position is due to start in Sept/Oct 2024 and will run until the end of the year. The role comes with a gross rate of up to £347.82 per day (through an FSCA Umbrella company from our PSL) or a gross PAYE rate of up to £269.25 per day. You will also be able to accrue up to 33 days of holiday per annum, pro rata, inclusive of bank holidays.


Job Responsibilities: The focus of the role is to provide DTP support for competitive tenders and other sales opportunities globally by creating, editing and formatting sales materials using branded templates to:

  • Provide clarity to the content and key messages they contain
  • Support and highlight the flow of the document
  • Adhere to brand guidelines
  • Meet deadlines
  • Share best practices and new design work as appropriate
  • Responsible for working with business development, broking and analytics colleagues at all levels; being able to understand and deliver to their requirements
  • Provide art working support, creative graphic assets and source stock photography for design materials
  • Produce and modify Adobe PDFs


Required Skills:

  • Advanced PowerPoint / Word skills (MS Office 2016), including strong working knowledge of templates and masters
  • Advanced Adobe InDesign / Illustrator / Photoshop
  • Good written English, excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Required Experience:

  • Experience designing and executing concepts for competitive pitches, marketing collateral and other deliverables
  • Extensive DTP experience, working with leading corporate brands within the financial services, law, commercial property, or insurance sectors, in either an in-house or studio environment
  • Confident working with senior professionals, in this instance brokers, actuaries and colleagues at all levels and supporting them to engage with design in innovative ways that adhere to brand guidelines
  • Comfortable taking complex briefs from brokers, analytics colleagues and/or business developers and managing the production process from start to finish
  • Have a keen eye for copy layout and experience in designing graphics
  • Have an excellent understanding of print processes and techniques and be able to liaise directly with printers
  • The ability to manage the workflow is essential - prioritising work to managing delivery to tight deadlines across multiple projects
  • Work well under pressure and to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining accuracy
  • Be flexible, enthusiastic and client-focused
