Quantity Surveyor - Warrington

This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist and fast growing section of the business, located primarly at BGEN’s Head office in Warrington and at sites as the jobs require.
Purpose
You will assist in the commercial control of multiple projects to deliver the expected contract margin for BGEN Ltd whilst delivering the excellent, efficient service that our clients expect.
- Interim Valuations, Variations, Final Accounts, internal weekly progress reports detailing hours spent / earned, gang rates etc. to the Senior Quantity Surveyor. Subcontract Payment Certificates, Cost Value Reconciliation’s, Star rates and associated star rate register.
- Ensure full submission of all contractual notices is always being strictly adhered to to effectively administer the Contract.
- Take offs to determine changes in drawings tender v AFC, and subsequent changes in Construction issues.
- Subcontract costs against allowances, Labour Allocation sheets, monitor Boulting Prime Costs to ensure project costs are aligned to achieve contract margin. Use and update of internal project database to observe / progress Labour, material, plant, staff, prelims costs etc.
- Undertake weekly measures by liaison with the project planners to achieve payment milestones as dictated by individual contracts.
- Control of Risk management techniques.
- Subcontract orders and project tenders and pre-contract information in conjunction with Work Package Managers.
- Monitoring of material purchases to ensure materials are bought within tender allowances, where possible
- Manage the effective commercial delivery of projects in line with contract margins.
- Keep Commercial Director, Head of Commercial and Work Package Managers aware of specific cost overruns or risk to effective delivery.
- Undertaking of any other duties that are deemed necessary for the proper execution of the role of Quantity Surveyor.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years’ experience and / or suitable professional examination.
Essential
Job Related Experience
- Experience working with multi-discipline contracting organisation.
Desirable
- Experienced in working under the NEC contract format.
- Experienced working within a framework contract.
- Utilisation of a contract administration tool such as CEMAR
Skills & Knowledge
Evidence of advanced Microsoft Excel training or experience
Full Driving Licence
Ability to communicate effectively at senior levels within the organisation and with client representatives.
Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
