Senior Buyer to join their team on a full-time permanent, based at their offices in Ripley.
About The Senior Buyer Role
Hybrid role - working 2/3 days in the office a week and reporting to the Supply Chain Director, the purpose of this role is to procure goods and services both nationally and globally that will deliver maximum value for money, support business growth and meet company requirements in terms of quality, cost, and delivery.
Hours: Mon-Fri (9:00am - 5:30pm) - 37.5 hours per week
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000
What will I be doing in the Senior Buyer role?
- Procurement of a portfolio of goods, materials or services within a category
- Work and communicate with internal stakeholders as appropriate
- Conduct research to identify suppliers and products that will deliver best value and best quality of goods and services
- Oversees sourced product development & management of critical path to ensure OTIF product launches.
- Building and maintaining good relationships with new and existing suppliers
- Working with the Supply Chain Director on cost management and price negotiation and on maintaining inventory levels
- Minimise risk to continuity of supply by carrying out supplier risk assessments and implementing corrective actions as required
- Deliver KPIs relating to cost, cash, quality, service and continuity of supply for the portfolio
- Review Terms & Conditions and support contract negotiations, establishing SLAs to enable ongoing monitoring of the quality of service and product delivered
- Production of tender documents and evaluation of tender responses
- Working with the Operations teams, HR and Engineering on procurement projects including Health & Safety, Business Travel, Cleaning, PPE, Manual Handling equipment, Landscaping & Waste management.
- Identify cost savings across the business.
- Ensuring purchasing procedures are followed in line with the business purchasing strategy and legal T&Cs whilst ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives.
What will you bring to the Senior Buyer role?
- At least 3-5 years previous experience in a Buyer/Procurement role is essential.
- Strong experience within Indirect and Direct Buying
- Strong sourcing experience
- Good verbal & written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and manage internal and external relationships.
- Able to work independently and as part of a small team.
- Numerical, with strong analytical and negotiation skills
- High level of computer literacy, to include MS Excel & Word.
- Methodical, confident, and organised approach to working.
- Experience in dealing with global suppliers & sourced product development.
- Experience in "critical path" project management processes
- Experience preferably in manufacturing background negotiating contracts for goods and services in manufacturing, utilities, engineering & Health & Safety
- Ability to multitask, flexible /adaptable approach to work.
- Able to work under pressure and to tight schedules.
Where is the Senior Buyer role based?Our client is based in Ripley, so if you live in Ripley or the surrounding areas/Derby this role should only be a short commute for you. There is on-site parking available, and a bus stop a short walk from the site.
