Part Time 18.5 hours per week, Fixed Term for 6 months.
Location: Based in Bristol East Central, South Bristol and North Bristol Area Offices.
Start: June 2024.
An opportunity has arisen to work in children’s social care alongside qualified Social Workers who work with vulnerable children and families needing additional support and help. The families are currently working with the local social work teams in a statutory framework and whilst experiencing challenges the aim is to keep the family together by providing help and support to reduce risk and increase resilience in those identified families.
You may be:
- A support worker looking for a change of role.
- A newly qualified social worker who is undecided about their career path.
- Considering a social work career and needing to gain some experience.
We are looking for an individual with motivation and enthusiasm for working with children, families and young people. Able with the oversight of a qualified social worker to plan with and support vulnerable families.
You will need good communication skills and a capacity to make honest and supportive relationships with children, young people and parents. You will need to have written skills and an understanding of working with procedures and legislation.
Please note that this role is subject to an Enhanced DBS Check.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
