The Role

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Accounts Assistant to join our growing professional team in Liverpool. You will report to the Management Accountant in a small but experienced team and core duties will include;

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly management accounts and P&Ls for business units
  • Assist in the production of the monthly rolling forecast
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and submission of VAT Returns
  • Assisting in preparing year-end schedules to support audit and preparation of

statutory accounts

  • Assist in preparing information for the computation of Corporation Tax returns
  • Dealing with financial queries from business unit and department leaders

(including travelling to other offices when necessary)

  • Support Management Accountant in the annual Budget setting process
  • Assist Purchase Ledger clerks with review of supplier invoices
  • Support the Finance Director in managing the company motor fleet
  • Assist with maintaining the fixed asset register

The Right Fit

You will be self–motivated and driven to succeed, focused on results and passionate about their job. They will have excellent organisation and time management skills and be able to communicate clearly and concisely with colleagues at all levels.

You will be qualified to AAT Level 3 (or equivalent), have advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and be experienced with:

  • Preparing statutory year-end accounts for filing with Companies House
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns to HMRC
  • Auditing and supporting external auditor queries

It would be advantageous if you are working towards or willing to work towards a recognised CCAB qualification as part of your professional development.

There will be some requirement to travel to other offices to provide financial or systems training to non-financial staff.
