Major Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Day shift electrician to work at New Spitalfields Market
Location: London E10
Working hours: Mon - Fri 8am - 4pm
Grade C Level 6 - £21.66 Basic PAYE
Must be qualified up to a level 3 to enable them to work on both single and three phase. The site is industrial, rather than commercial and the candidate will be working across 11 buildings in a very open 32-acre site in all weathers. The role is best suited to someone with experience in an industrial setting.
The candidate will be responsible for undertaking the operation, maintenance, inspection, certification and safety for all electrical services in the Market complex and assist the Head of Maintenance in carrying out general maintenance and running repairs of the Market's plant, machinery, vehicles and buildings. To work as a member of the maintenance team and assist other trades as and when required.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
The maintenance and repair either as part of planned maintenance or emergency works of all electrical services to a high standard to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the Market. This will include all air conditioning systems, air handling units, re-circulating fans, fan coil units and associated switchgear if appropriate and required at the Market in line with local procedures.
Installation of electrical services on power and lighting i.e. conduit, trunking cable system across all markets and car park if appropriate and required at the Market in line with local procedures.
Maintain, replace and overhaul all light fittings throughout Market Premises including lamps and control gear as and when required.
Maintain and overhaul all low voltage sub-main distribution equipment throughout market and car park if appropriate and required at the Market in line with local procedures.
Fault finding and testing sub-main distribution equipment throughout the market and car park.
Maintain extract/ventilation systems throughout the Market premises.
Use hydraulic platform/plant on market premises provided by the City of London.
Repair, service and maintain control systems, including forklift charging bays, roller shutters, dock seals, entrance doors, overhead automated meat rails and inverter panels in plant rooms for all pumps and motors ensuring continued supplies for condensed water to tenants' refrigeration systems, if appropriate and required at the Market in line with local procedures.
Undertake meter reading services including bulk meters and replacement of faulty meters across markets and commercial premises.
To undertake any planned or reactive maintenance duties relating to competency in another trade on the market buildings as required to a high standard
To carry out ad hoc installations or repairs on the buildings.
To carry out all installations or repairs to all single phase and three phase motors throughout the buildings if appropriate and required at the Market in line with local procedures.
To undertake and/or assist with work either in conjunction with other trades or under the lone working initiative. Using skills not associated specifically with your main trade skill, but to fall under the blanket title of multi-trade.
Supply and install services for functions and events held within or around the market premises connected with the City of London.
