Senior Engineering Manager
Murphy is currently recruiting for a Senior Engineering Manager to join our award-winning team, known for its extensive in-house expertise and continual drive to innovate within the industry. The Senior Engineering Manager will have overall responsibility for the engineering function (engineering, design management, quality assurance and control, document control) both on and off site for Murphy Applied Engineering, including the day-to-day management of all engineering activities. Responsibility for the implementation of the Better Engineered strategic driver as part of the 10-year plan and will be responsible for representing the function both internally and externally.
Following the ‘One Murphy’ approach, we’re able to deliver all aspects of the projects we work on. Murphy has designed, constructed, and commissioned projects for clients such as Grid, SSE and Ørsted, on both transmission and distribution networks within the Energy sector.
What You Will Be Doing
- Implement and promote the Better Engineered strategic objective within the business unit,
- Lead and drive engineering initiatives within the business unit,
- Promote and lead engineering innovation and BIM solutions to our clients,
- Manage and actively pursue performance improvement of the engineering capability and function, assisting in establishing and implementing best practice policies and procedures for the function,
- Take a proactive role in the management of careers and the learning & development of all engineering staff, including carrying out personal development reviews,
- Work closely with engineering institutions and manage the professional qualifications in conjunction with the learning & development team,
- Support the business units in work winning as the technical leader coordinator in bids, with the application of engineering, design management and quality,
- Provide guidance and support to projects to contribute a clear view for delivering engineering, design management and quality,
- Actively pursue performance improvement of the engineering capability and function,
- Manage the allocation of engineering resources to support the business,
- Promote the function internally and externally,
- Manage the consultant supply chain framework and drive the performance and relationship management of the consultant community,
- Keep management informed of business area activity and progress achieved,
- Manage the recruitment of engineers and design managers to support the business requirements,
- Engage with universities and support the annual graduate recruitment,
- Ensure Quality benchmarks are maintained at a high standard.
- Establish and promote best practice in health, safety and environmental matters in conjunction with the SHESQ department.
Who We Are Looking For
- Chartered Electrical Engineer
- Member of IET
- Further education qualification in Electrical Engineering
- Experience of working with Grid, Power Transmission Networks
- Previous experience with Grid technical specifications for substation design.
