We currently have a vacancy for an enthusiastic and passionate Product Development Advisor in the Incident Management and Resilience Digital Services team. You will be part of a small team supporting the delivery of digital products and services in incident management helping to reduce the impacts of incidents on people and the environment. Your focus will be on the successful development of the Smart Incident Reporting Project (SIRP) but with opportunity to influence the development of a wide range of exciting products.
To ensure SIRP is developed well and meets our user and business needs you will:
- Use effective communication skills to gain a deep understanding of all our users and what their needs are
- Understand how business strategies and business needs can be achieved through SIRP
- Support the design, build and testing of the SIRP service with a focus on user and business needs.
- Develop excellent relationships with the incident management community to ensure key stakeholder input and advice is incorporated into the project
- Help shape the Environment Agency’s response to reported incidents through development of effective information flows and improved ways of working.
- Work alongside the Product Owner providing support and information as required.
- Support the SIRP project team with technical aspects of the product development including technical backlog management, decision management, functional and non-functional requirements, capture user needs, design build and testing of the SIRP service.
The team
You will be part of the wider Digital Services team, responsible for developing, supporting, and improving critical systems and services for incident management.
You will work on the Smart Incident Reporting Project (SIRP), one of Digital Services' major projects. Experience/skills Required
Strong candidates for this role will have demonstrable experience of:
- Developing processes and tools that support a strategic business need, ideally within incident management, but this is not a requirement.
- Working collaboratively to develop a new way of working, tool or solution proving you have excellent team working skills.
- Working at pace with colleagues and stakeholders beyond the immediate team
- Enthusiastically approaching challenges and problems, quickly developing appropriate solutions.
- Making decisions based on evidence and data and recognising when there are gaps in available information and how these can be best filled.
- Working with competing deadlines and multiple workstreams ideally in a technical or digital field.
It will be beneficial for candidates to have experience in:
- Incident management
- Digital project delivery

Everyone starting in a new role with the Environment Agency will be welcomed into the team and given all of the training and support you need to succeed.
We are an operational team supporting systems 24 hours per day, every day. You may be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents.
There may be occasions you need to travel, but virtual collaboration is the norm and preferred. Interviews will be carried out remotely using Teams.
