As part of the Flexible Pipe Systems Offshore team based in Newcastle UK, you will be joining an established business and team with expertise in pipe design, manufacturing, and installation. This unique combination allows our customers to increase production and asset integrity whilst reducing the overall costs associated with a pipeline system.
The Work Centre Leader (hydrotest) is responsible for technical support and guidance on a day-to-day basis to their respective Work Centre, also ensuring that work centre equipment is in good working order & available at the correct time for planned production. In addition, the WCL is also accountable for the Work Centre’s Combined Operating Instructions (COI’s) and ‘best practice’ working procedures. The WCL is also responsible for ensuring that the work centre follows the best practices set out in all areas of its function. The WCL will also provide a holding role for the Production Engineer during short absences with the assistance of other Engineers.
Duties include the following but other duties may be assigned;
• Risk assessments lead, conjunction with Engineer, Operators & HSEQ presentation.
• Identify potential risks/hazards across work centre and act accordingly.
• Responsibility to ensure compliance to HSE Regulations
• Complete any necessary new machinery equipment checklists and risk assessments.
• Conduct / Support investigations following any incidents / accidents that occur.
• Driving down CoPQ by reviewing run data & identifying new and/or improved methods.
• Review of process Inspection records (P.I.R.).
• Work Centre and department LDM support.
• Recommend and implement containment / /corrective and preventative action in conjunction with WCE’s.
• Ensuring 6S condition is implemented and supports the sustainability on work centre’s 6S
• Examine alternatives and implement best choice solutions after seeking agreement with Engineer.
• Participate in or lead CI activities as directed & liaise with Manufacturing Improvement team.
• Make data available for the justification & Identifying manpower to carry out CI activities.
• Coaching work centre teams to encourage continuous improvement, principles & practice.
• Participate in Lean Development program and utilize Lean Techniques.
• Identify opportunities to improve overall production performance activity.
• Identify areas for introduction of lean manufacturing techniques.
• Recommend improvements to procedures, equipment and operation methods on each work centre which results in more effective working practices.
• Ensuring availability and condition of tooling.
• Ensuring all equipment required is in good order & available.
• Ensuring potential line stoppages are highlighted at the earliest stage to line engineer & supervision.
• Leading in technical or material issues during production in conjunction within WCE.
• Ensuring that company procedures are followed.
• First contact for production related problems out of hours.
• Ensuring all required line documentation is completed to the required standard, identifying reasons for failure.
• Reporting on failures to meet standard rates when requested.
• Generating Action lists.
• Checking material Issues / returns forms are completed and hours vouchered
• Understanding and recording machine capabilities, standard rates and capacity within area of responsibility.
