The Hertfordshire Shared Anti-Fraud Service (SAFS) provides an award-winning counter fraud service to our partner organisations across Hertfordshire & Bedfordshire.
The successful applicant will work in partnership with Council’s and social housing providers to detect crime and prevent fraud and loss.
You will work as part of a team of intelligence officers whose work supports the wider investigation service.
You will manage your own workload of referrals and follow a variety of processes to triage work and determine next steps.
This post requires someone willing to work in a high-pressure environment to demanding targets and delivering excellent outcomes to meet client KPI’s
Working as part of the Intelligence Team you will be required to collate and gather intelligence from various sources. You will interrogate a wide range of council data bases and annalise information to identify the risk of fraud.
Funding has been approved initially for 12 months.
If this post was to be extended the successful candidate will be expected to complete the Counter Fraud Investigator Level 4 Apprenticeship. Entry requirements for the apprenticeship are Level 2 English and Maths (GCSE A*-C/9-4 or equivalent). Applicants without this would need to achieve this alongside their apprenticeship before completing their end point assessment. Applicants with a Level 4 or higher qualification in a related area would not be eligible for the Apprenticeship.

The successful candidate will be part of the successful Anti-Fraud Service, whose aims and objectives are to detect crime, prevent loss of public funds and make financial savings.
Whilst employed by the County Council, SAFS is a partnership of authorities, and you will engage with a number of services across all of those partners organisations.

This position is open to secondments. If you work for HCC or any other Local Authority and would like to be considered as a Secondment contract, please ensure you complete the Secondment Form as part of your application. Driving required
You’ll need to have the ability to drive and/or travel around Hertfordshire, either using your own mode of transport or a company car to travel to other locations.
English Fluency
The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post (for those whose language is a signed language the provision of a sign language interpreter who speaks English to the necessary standard of fluency will be required).
