A Head of Operations job is now available with a design practice in London. The successful candidate will have a people first attitude as well as previous experience of building and maintaining a collaborative working environment, where productivity and creativity can thrive. Salary of circa £80,000.
This design studio has over ten years of experience working across a variety of projects including residential, commercial, and BTR developments. Their services include interior design, FF&E, furnishing and procurement for private clients and developers.
They are now looking for a highly organised and driven individual to be second in command and oversee all operational aspects of the business. The Head of Operations will lead and motivate the team, translate the business strategy into operational actions, and will be in charge of implementing and managing processes that drive new business and profitability.
Role & Responsibilities
- Leading, mentoring and managing team members from all departments
- Collaborating with the Directors to define and execute the strategic goals and objectives
- Overseeing the recruitment, training, and development of the team
- Fostering a collaborative and creative working environment
- Translating strategic plans into actionable and measurable initiatives across the company
- Monitoring and evaluating operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions
- Evaluating the efficiency of business procedures, agreeing organisational objectives and applying improvements
- Developing and implementing operational strategies, policies, and procedures
- Overseeing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure safe and healthy working environments
- Developing and controlling operational budgets to promote profitability
- Directing and overseeing the company’s day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning across all departments
- Overseeing procurement, customer service and logistical processes and seek efficiencies
- Overseeing and developing client support processes
- Keeping abreast of competitor activity and latest industry trends
- Monitoring and improving communication across the company
- Taking lead on all new tenders – resource management, managing process and timescales, and ensuring all deliverables are met
- Overseeing the development and management of project budgets, and pricing documents
- Managing contract and fee negotiations, ensuring obligations are properly communicated
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships, providing exceptional customer service and understanding client needs
- Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and meetings.
Required Skills & Experience
- 12 years’ experience, with a proven background as Head of Operations, or equivalent position
- Ability to demonstrate leadership capabilities and experience
- Outstanding communication and people skills
- Experience in implementing systems and processes that enhance company productivity and profitability
- Excellent decision-making and negotiation skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Familiarity with MS Office and various business software
- A degree or equivalent, and relevant professional qualifications
- Ability to work in the UK
- Full UK Driving License
- Mac proficient and experience with Xero accounting software and stock/warehouse management systems beneficial but not essential
- Interest in design and knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines would be beneficial.
