Job Posting for Import/Export Coordinator at KCL

Duties will include:

· Import/Export/Cross Trade Shipping

o management of international air and sea freight movements in line with contract terms using freight forwarders and selected couriers

o UK import and export clearance instructions including correct use of HS Classifications & Customs Procedures

o preparation of commercial shipping paperwork (packing lists, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, etc)

o check and validation of 3rd party transport documents (AWB/BOL etc)

o management of overseas customs clearance and delivery per contract requirements

o Also booking domestic movements through online courier websites or national road freight services

· Project Planning & Reporting :

o Scheduling per project timescales requirements in coordination with company’s Project Managers

o Freight costing and estimation including preparation of RFQs to freight forwarders or other types of estimation and calculation of related charges, e.g. import duties and taxes

Carry out independent project research using reliable sources and/ or third-party experts

· Administration & Statutory Requirements

o E-filing and maintenance of detailed shipping records

o Import VAT accounting support

o Export compliance and control checks including screening of vendors and customers and completion of related forms

o UK Export License applications support as required

The candidate will have good organisational skills. An ability to prioritise and work efficiently under pressure is essential.

Strong IT skills are mandatory for this role; particularly proficient use of MS Excel. Competence and confidence with office/Windows based IT applications including e.g. email, virtual meeting platforms, browsers and explorer tools for organised electronic file management. Experience of preparing and publishing documentation using MS Word and Adobe Acrobat is also preferable.

Experience and working knowledge of some or all of the following is desirable:

· INCOTERMS and commercial trading practices

· HMRC Customs Procedures including Inward Processing, CHIEF/CDS entry paperwork and the application and treatment of Duty/VAT

· Harmonised Tariff System

· Letters of Credit

· Commercial paperwork

· Transport Documents

· Overseas customs processes

· Export control classifications and licenses

Job Type: Temporary contract
Contract length: 15 months
