Job Summary
The NHS Trust is seeking experienced and dedicated Locum Consultants to provide high-quality care across various specialties. As a Locum Consultant, you will play a crucial role in delivering clinical services, supporting patient care, and contributing to the development of the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high standards of clinical care to patients in accordance with NHS guidelines and protocols.
- Provide consultant-level expertise and leadership within the assigned specialty.
- Participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient care, and surgical procedures where applicable.
- Contribute to the on-call rota and provide emergency cover as required.
- Engage in clinical governance activities, including audits, teaching, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including junior doctors, nursing staff, and allied health professionals, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Support the training and supervision of junior medical staff and contribute to their development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and ensure compliance with information governance standards.

Qualifications and Requirements
Essential Qualifications:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognized by the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Full registration with the GMC with a license to practice.
- Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent in the relevant specialty, or within six months of obtaining CCT at the time of interview.
- Membership/Fellowship of the relevant Royal College (e.g., MRCP, FRCS).
Desirable Qualifications:
- Higher research degree (MD, PhD) or equivalent.
- Relevant postgraduate qualifications in the specialty.
Experience:
- Significant experience working at consultant level or equivalent within the NHS or similar healthcare system.
- Demonstrable experience in managing complex cases within the specialty.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent clinical skills and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and quality improvement in patient care.
Additional Requirements:
- Evidence of participation in clinical governance, audit, and research activities.
- Up-to-date training in life support (e.g., ALS, ATLS, APLS) relevant to the specialty.
