Title: Advanced Practitioner - Safeguarding Children
Location: Wareham, Dorset
Working Pattern: 4-day week over a 14-week rota, including overnight on-call and weekend working (separate rota)
Department: Dorset Children's Services
Pay Rate: £32.66 per hour
Team Size: Approximately 30 members, including 14 Social Workers
Reporting to: Team Manager
About The Role
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Practitioner for our Safeguarding Children team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled social worker to join a dynamic and supportive team committed to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Safeguarding Referrals: Take new safeguarding referrals and make informed decisions on next actions, including immediate safeguarding measures where necessary.
Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including information sharing and attending regular multi-agency meetings.
Out of Hours Service: Serve as a point of contact for the out of hours service, managing cases involving children with extensive social care involvement.
Consultation-Based Practice: Provide expert consultation and advice to colleagues and partners, ensuring best practice in social work.
Database Management: Use the MOSAIC database/system to log all conversations, decisions, and actions accurately.
Autonomous Working: Confidently work autonomously, making critical decisions in high-pressure situations.
Team Collaboration: Work as part of a supportive team, sharing knowledge and expertise to improve outcomes for children.
Essential Qualifications And Experience
Education: BA (or equivalent) in Social Work, DipSW.
Professional Registration: Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England (SWE)
Experience: Minimum of 3 years post-qualifying social work experience, with experience in an assessment and/or MASH Team.
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong analytical and reflective skills
Proficiency in using social care databases, specifically MOSAIC
Proven ability to work effectively in a multi-agency environment
Demonstrated experience in out of hours social work
Confidence in autonomous decision-making
Additional Requirements
Office Presence: Ability to work in the Wareham office at least 2 days per week
Work Schedule: Willingness to participate in a 14-week rota, including overnight on-call and weekend working.
