Job Posting for Head of Education at MindSenseAbility

MindSenseAbility (MSA) is a specialist therapy and education service based in the New Forest for young people with Autism, developmental trauma and mental health needs. Many of our students receive bespoke educational therapeutic programmes delivered in a variety of environments through the funding of the local education authorities, health and adoption services.

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Head of Education to help develop a new specialist provision and then continue to provide educational leadership across the service working in partnership with the Clinical Leadership Team.

The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Senior Management Team, working alongside them to shape the establishment of a new provision and further develop aspirational high-quality teaching and learning. To apply for this role candidates should have at least 10 years’ experience working as a trained teacher with young people who have special educational needs. The role would suit those currently in senior education leadership roles – for example Headteachers, Deputy or Assistant Head Teachers and Heads of Department.

You will have experience in managing staff and monitoring outcomes in an education setting in addition to working effectively with external professionals. Whether you are a primary or secondary specialist, being creative, flexible and supportive in your approach and working with the existing multidiscipline team is vital. You will oversee the implementation of educational therapeutic programmes and take a leadership role, with a small amount of direct work with young people and their families. MSA have an established positive reputation with our commissioning bodies partners which has developed over the past 8 years. You must have access to a car (as the post requires you to work throughout the New Forest and areas within Hampshire and Dorset, and within the young person’s home on occasion).

The candidate will enjoy the support of other committed and passionate professionals working to address the needs of young people, who at times find education a challenge.

This is a full-time post, 41 weeks per year and hours may vary weekly.

Salary based on Leadership scale and can be discussed further at interview, depending on experience
