HGV Mechanic

MJ Church Ltd have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial HGV Technician to join our team within the Transport Workshop, based at Star Farm Marshfield, close to Chippenham and Bath. Reporting to the workshop Manager, you will join our existing team of Commercial HGV Technicians who service and maintain our own vehicles across the Southwest. As the Commercial HGV Technician, you will be working out of our purpose-built facility. You’ll be working on a diverse range of modern trucks from manufacturers such as MAN, Scania, Volvo, DAF and Renault.

The Role:

As an HGV Technician for M J Church, you will be responsible for the service, repair and maintenance of our diverse fleet of HGV vehicles in a safe, efficient and economical manner.

You will be required to:

• Carry out all aspects of vehicle maintenance and diagnostics.
• Maintain vehicles to the highest standards of maintenance
• MOT preparations.
• Ensure all work is accurately documented Attending roadside breakdowns.
• Interpret instructions from the job card/defects sheets and comply with repair instructions
• Actively maintain a clean & safe working environment at all times.

What you’ll need to join the team:

• Level 3 Qualification in heavy vehicle mechanics
• Experience in the repair and maintenance of HGV vehicles within the commercial vehicle industry
• IRTEC accreditation desirable but not essential as we have IRTEC courses available
• You will be self-motivated and hardworking
• A team player when working as part of our team
• Using your initiative when working individually Be able to problem solve and work well under pressure Good interpersonal and organisational skills Safe working practices
• Awareness and understanding of Health and Safety practices
• Experience in the Waste/Recycling industry would be an advantage
• Attention to detail
• Full UK Driving licence (HGV entitlement would be an advantage)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £19.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 45 per week
