Job Description: We are looking for an environmental technologist who’s keen to combine field work with desk based development and analysis. You will play a critical role in the deployment, maintenance and ongoing development of our ecosystem monitoring technologies – travelling extensively, notably in the USA. This role can be adapted to suit either experienced or early career applicants.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake system installation and maintenance activities at a range of rural sites across the UK and USA
  • Document field and lab activities efficiently and effectively
  • Interact with customers, land managers and other key stakeholders whilst at field sites
  • Contribute to wider technology management and development through one or more of:
  • Data analysis and system monitoring
  • System design and development
  • System build and testing
  • Data interpretation and translation into customer insights

Essential Qualifications and Qualities:

  • A degree in a science subject, or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in a field based environment
  • Excellent practical problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated capability to learn and apply technical concepts
  • No impediment to undertake travel in the UK, USA and Brazil
  • Willingness to travel overseas approximately 6 times per year, for approximately 2 weeks at a time
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • UK driving licence
  • Desire to contribute to the delivery of services that integrate environmental science, data science and social sciences to support improved land management

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with environmental, meteorological or micro-meteorological monitoring systems
  • Experience of developing or deploying sensor test and calibration procedures
  • Knowledge of analysis techniques as applied to environmental monitoring and associated data
  • Knowledge of practices used in nature based solutions, agriculture or conservation

What We Offer:

  • Up to 40 hours per week (full time) – part-time applications also welcomed.
  • Salary £30,000 to £40,000 dependent on experience
  • 25 days annual holiday plus bank holidays
