What You'll Be Doing

  • Linux Administration: Assist in managing and supporting Linux environments, including configuration, management, patching, and troubleshooting of Linux servers. Ensure optimal performance, reliability, and security of Linux systems across the organization.
  • Configuration Management: Work with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate the deployment, configuration, and management of Linux and other server environments. Develop scripts and automation workflows under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Contribute to the design and implementation of infrastructure using Terraform to automate the provisioning and management of cloud resources. Collaborate with the team to develop and maintain Terraform modules.
  • Zero Trust Architecture: Support the implementation and maintenance of Roku’s Zero Trust Architecture, ensuring alignment with NIST SP 800-207 standards. Work with security teams to integrate Zero Trust principles into Linux and other system environments.
  • Identity and Access Management (IAM): Assist in standardizing IAM practices across all global regions. Implement IAM solutions on Linux systems, ensuring smooth integration with enterprise IAM strategies.
  • Privileged Access Management: Contribute to managing and enhancing privileged access management solutions for Linux environments, focusing on auditability and monitoring capabilities.
  • IT Collaboration: Collaborate with the broader IT team, including Networking and Security, to ensure cohesive and comprehensive security and system measures across Linux and other platforms.
  • Enterprise Application Support: Support the integration and management of enterprise applications in Linux environments. Assist in onboarding applications into cloud services such as Azure, ensuring compatibility and security.
  • Automation: Identify opportunities for automation within Linux environments and across systems. Implement automated solutions using scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) and configuration management tools to improve efficiency.
  • Security Advocacy: Assist in promoting the integration of security best practices into system administration processes. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure robust security across Linux and other systems.

We're excited if you have

  • Linux Expertise: 3 years of experience with Linux system administration, including experience with Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar distributions. Proficiency in shell scripting, system performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
  • Configuration Management: Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef. Ability to create and maintain configuration scripts and manage Linux deployments under supervision.
  • Terraform and IaC Skills: Some experience with Terraform for managing and automating cloud infrastructure. Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to assist in the deployment of cloud resources.
  • Automation Skills: Proficiency in automation scripting using Bash, Python, or similar languages. Experience with infrastructure automation tools and methodologies is a plus.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience with Azure and AWS environments. GCP experience is a plus. Basic understanding of how to manage Linux systems within cloud environments.
  • IAM and SSO: Experience with Identity and Access Management, particularly in integrating Linux systems with enterprise IAM solutions. Knowledge of Azure Single Sign-On (SSO) login methods is advantageous.
  • Security Practices & Compliance: Knowledge of IT security practices and regulatory compliance, including NIST, GDPR, SOC 2, PCI DSS, and HIPAA. Experience with security hardening and patch management for Linux systems.
  • Networking Skills: Understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services, especially in a Linux context. Experience with DNS, DHCP, and network troubleshooting on Linux servers.
  • Backup & Continuity: Understanding of backup/recovery processes and business continuity planning for Linux environments.
  • SaaS and IaC Tools: Experience managing Linux servers in SaaS environments and using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, ARM, or CloudFormation is a plus.
  • Project Management Tools: Familiarity with project management and documentation tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Certifications: Linux certifications (e.g., RHCE, LFCE), Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, Terraform Associate, or similar certifications are advantageous.
  • Education: B.S. in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
