RSR Justice are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Coventry for an Immigration Support Worker.
The purpose of this role is to provide immigration advice and casework within OISC regulations to asylum seekers and refugees in Coventry, including initial asylum applications, fresh claims and leave to remain applications.
This is a full-time, 1-year fixed term contract, offering a salary of £30,000 per annum.
Opportunity to work from home 2-3 days a week.
Main Duties:
- Assist asylum seekers and refugees to know and enforce their rights in relation to healthcare, social services or accommodation, advising on access where appropriate.
- Apply for replacement papers for asylum seekers or refugees unable to access housing entitlements because of their lack of immigration status proof
- Manage a caseload of clients.
- Work closely with other members of the Legal branch in order to offer the best advice and service to each individual client.
- Obtain the legal documents relevant to each client’s case from previous solicitors and other relevant sources including the Home Office.
- Make applications for asylum/LTR as appropriate, and to refer clients to new legal representatives and/or signpost them to other services or agencies where necessary.
- Advise on or make referrals to other services where appropriate, such as NHS treatment or specialist accommodation.
- Maintain up to date and accurate records on each case, and to support project monitoring and evaluation and other initiatives or needs.
- Adhere to Health and Safety Policy and Procedures of the organisation, and the (Coventry Community Support Services Partnership where relevant).
Essential Requirements:
- Solicitor/barrister or immigration advisor with accreditation to at least OISC Level 2 (Asylum & Immigration).
- At least three years’ experience of providing advice in the field of asylum and immigration legislation and case law.
- Experience of exploring sensitive and personal information and contentious issues during interviews with clients in a calm, respectful and appropriate manner.
- Insight into the needs, experiences and hopes of vulnerable undocumented migrants and/or those with NRPF.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills: ability to analyse complex written or oral information and communicate it effectively.
- Able to drive with current driving license and access to a vehicle and business insurance.
- Fluent Minority Language.
