R&D Chemist

Job Description

Are you ready to make a significant impact on a dynamic and growing company? We are seeking a talented Chemist to join the R&D team at our Sheffield site. You will take part in the development and maintenance of the wood formulations within the labs.

Responsibilities

Your main tasks will be:

• Development of new products/formulations
• Reformulation of existing products and laboratory testing of formulations and products
• Management of projects through the stage-gate process from feasibility to scale-up
• Provision of support to the QA and Consumer Services Departments
• Advise plant on production batch corrections & complaint investigation
• Management of formulations/recipes within the company IT systems
• Benchmarking testing of woodcare products
• Evaluation and assessment of raw materials including supplier meetings
• Working to, and upholding ISO and safety standards
  
  

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, polymer/materials science or related technical discipline
• 3 year’s experience of working in a chemical laboratory
• Master’s Degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, polymer/materials science or related technical discipline
• Industrial chemistry experience
• Experience of decorative coatings products and/or woodcare products
• Six Sigma knowledge
• Previous laboratory experience essential
• Driving license is preferred due to occasional travel
