Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role:
EDS Engineer required lead electrical EDS systems engineering as well as EE Integration efforts across various programs. Taking a proactive approach, they lead from the forefront to ensure seamless progression from concept to series delivery, guaranteeing that all systems and components meet program requirements in terms of performance, attributes, cost, and timing. This role demands strong multitasking abilities, forward-thinking, and the capacity to make swift, evidence-based decisions to maintain project momentum.
This role is offered as a 3 month temporary contract. There is an opportunity to work outside of IR35, which is subject to an IR35 assessment being conducted after interview.
Area of Responsibility
- Design and development tasks relating to high and low voltage wiring and fusing systems, component packaging and electrical power distribution including the creation of specifications, drawings, reports, and sign-off documentation.
- Responsible for System Engineering, EE Architecture Integration, EDS, Vehicle Integration and System, Vehicle V&V
- Technical expertise in EE architecture, EDS systems & packaging (component packaging considerations, harness standards / manf, 3D schematics, 2D definition)
- Accountable for Test plans definition, Integration Plan, Issue resolution, risk & mitigation.
- Responsibility for the delivery of Vehicle EE systems to specific vehicle programmes.
- Accountable for Technical Specification, FMEA, DVP, Vehicle / System level test specs
- Accountable for delivery of products to meet Budgets, Timing & Gateway Delivery.
- Manage / monitor Vehicle build & development support. Report and manage uild issues effectively.
- Support for the preparation and approval of component data sheets and schematics in conjunction with other function groups, our technical partners, and Tier 1 suppliers.
- Guidance to ensure that wiring and electrical hardware are correctly located and packaged in accordance with installation, environmental and EMC requirements.
- Participation in all system review, verification & validation activities.
- Fault identification and resolution including management of issues to closure.
- Tier 1 supplier management and co-ordination including support for Procurement,
- Logistics and Quality throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing build plans and ensuring plans are being tracked and followed. Stakeholder alignment.
- Issue resolutions and reporting.
- RCA and countermeasure implementation.
- Managing rework on electrical distribution system development - specifically circuit design, wiring/fusing systems and electrical packaging.
- Provision of support and training to Manufacturing and Service departments within organisation
Knowledge / Experience
- Extensive experience into Product Development, EE System Engineering with knowledge of product development life cycle.
- Leading a team of cross functional engineers, leaders, domain managers responsible for the design and development of electrical systems from concept through to production and series development.
- Demonstrable experience of electrical distribution system development - specifically circuit design, wiring/fusing systems and electrical packaging.
- Experience in design for good electrical and EMC performance.
- Knowledge of hybrid electrical vehicle architectures and wiring systems would be advantageous.
- Experience of visualisation using CATIA, or lightweight file viewers would be useful.
- Experience of system/component delivery within an APQP, six sigma or similar framework (FMEA, quality planning, PPAP etc.)
- Articulate, self-motivated, and able to work well on own initiative.
- Possession of an Electronics, Control Systems, Automotive or similar honours engineering degree.
- Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.
