Primary School Teaching Positions in Selby – October Start!

We are excited to invite primary teachers to join our dynamic team in Selby for an October start. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to shape young minds across a diverse curriculum. We're looking for creative and imaginative individuals who can deploy innovative teaching strategies and adaptable resources to ignite a passion for learning in children.

Your ability to create a secure and nurturing learning environment will be key to fostering growth and exploration. Effective communication is essential, as you’ll need to connect with children in a relatable way and provide strong written summaries of their progress and development.

Your primary motivation will be to nurture each child’s development and prepare them effectively for their transition to secondary school.

The Ideal Candidate Will Demonstrate

  • Profound knowledge and understanding of the Primary Curriculum guidelines.
  • Proven experience navigating school policies, particularly those related to health, safety, and safeguarding.
  • An understanding of how National Curriculum test information contributes to the development of both teachers and the school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Thoughtfully plan and deliver a flexible, differentiated teaching program tailored to the unique abilities of all students.
  • Maintain engaging lessons that sustain motivation, challenge students, and facilitate their progress.
  • Utilize school assessment data to shape future lesson plans.
  • Set high expectations for student behavior and classroom management.
  • Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for students to thrive.
  • Regularly set ambitious yet attainable targets for students and monitor their progress closely.
  • Continuously develop learning resources and activities, adapting materials to meet individual needs.
  • Provide supportive guidance during SATs preparation to help students meet or exceed expectations.
  • Build effective relationships with parents/guardians to share knowledge and support student progress.
  • Assess and monitor classwork and homework, offering constructive feedback and setting targets.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to ensure specific educational needs are met and progress is monitored.
  • Take ownership of your professional development, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
  • Attend meetings, reviews, and training sessions as per school policy.

Working Hours

  • Full-time hours (Minimum 8:30 am – 3:30 pm).
  • Additional hours may be required for staff meetings, inspections, and parent consultations.
