As an experienced lawyer in the UK gambling sector you will know who we are.
Top ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners many years running, our Betting & Gaming Team is described as 'pre-eminent' and our lawyers as having ' extensive and incomparable', 'unrivalled' and 'encyclopaedic' knowledge.
We are now looking for an associate to join the team. You'll be a UK solicitor or equivalent and will need at least 2 years' post qualification experience gained in a specialist betting & gaming legal team either in private practice or in-house.
You will work on the full range of commercial and regulatory projects and support on relevant corporate transactions . Whilst some projects will involve larger teams including senior associates and legal directors, much of your work with involve working directly with partners known as being the best in the sector.
You can expect a high level of responsibility and will build solid client relationships, while contributing to business development and supporting the continued growth of the practice.
Our Team
We assist stakeholders across the gambling ecosystem on all their day-to-day legal, regulatory and compliance requirements as well as working on complex projects and strategic advisory matters. Outside our core gambling team, our tax, technology, advertising, brand protection, litigation, data protection, employment and property specialists regularly advise gambling businesses.
Much of our work is cross-border, using the team's comprehensive international network of best of breed gambling firms.
Our regulatory work involves UK compliance advice and regulatory enforcement actions. We also advise major industry players on their risk strategy in respect of unregulated markets, helping them to navigate the complexity of international legislation and conflicts of law on a global basis.
Our commercial work involves advising on a wide variety of contractual arrangements, including: software licensing; content/game development and supply contracts; cutting-edge technology projects in new areas such as AI, VR and blockchain; white label arrangements between media or marketing businesses with gambling operators; preparing bespoke terms and conditions for suppliers and operators; customer promotions and related advertising advice; merchandising, sponsorships and endorsement deals and payment processing agreements.
The team works closely with our corporate lawyers on commercial and regulatory aspects of deals (including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and investments). The team has been involved with many of the most significant transactions in the sector in recent years.
