Job Description for Aeronautical Engineering Supervisor

Aeronautical Engineering Supervisor oversees the design of aircraft and helicopter parts and propulsion systems to optimize aerodynamic performance and promote safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Supervises and delegates the daily operations of an aeronautical engineering team and implements policies and procedures to guide workflow and ensure compliance with federal regulations. Being an Aeronautical Engineering Supervisor develops computational models and simulations to understand and assess the performance of aircraft design and identify necessary improvements. Reviews prototype testing to validate the performance and safety of aircraft parts in various conditions. Additionally, Aeronautical Engineering Supervisor collects, processes, and analyzes aircraft data and conducts calculations to understand and estimate flight parameters. Utilizes CAE tools to analyze structural integrity to ensure aircraft parts can withstand stresses and loads encountered during flight. Typically requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aeronautical Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be an Aeronautical Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
