Schedule: Part time – 20-35 hours/week, benefit eligible Shift: 12 Hour Day Shift (United States of America) Weekly Work Schedule: 6A-6P JOB POSTING Job Information Exemption Status: Non-Exempt A Brief Overview This position will coordinate the placement of all admissions (elective and emergent) and transfer in accordance with the clinical standards and guidelines. This position will also be responsible for ensuring the patient is admitted to the most appropriate bed available using criteria for admission, and determining if the patient is a candidate for observation or inpatient status. The delivery of professional nursing care at Stormont Vail Health is guided by Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the theory of Shared governance, both of which are congruent with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Education Qualifications Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN). Preferred Experience Qualifications 2 years RN experience in related clinical field in acute care facility. Required Skills and Abilities Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, non-verbal and written methods. Ability to perform mathematical calculations related to medication administration and equipment calibration. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to identify, assess and resolve problems. Willingness to learn necessary computer skills. Licenses and Certifications Registered Nurse - KSBN Required Basic Life Support - BLS Required within 90 days of hire. Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. The department director will provide specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained at the time of hire/transfer into department. What you will do Identify and evaluate bed availability in all patient care departments. Demonstrate diverse clinical knowledge regarding patient care needs. Understand and know scope of services of each Patient Care department. Communicate and coordinate with the Directors and charge nurses to ensure that all shifts have standardized admission, discharge, and transfer procedures. Initiate new concepts, approaches, and procedures in the placement of patients to facilitate their admission process. Communicate with the emergency department frequently to prevent a backup of admissions and to put into place procedures that might stop a backlog (i.e. Diversion) Demonstrates knowledge of the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act and follows the statutes and regulations therein. Demonstrates appropriate delegation of tasks and duties in the direction and coordination of health care team members, patient care and department activities in accordance with the Kansas State Nurse Practice Act.
