Machine Learning Scientist, Frontier Research - Prescient Design *Remote Work

The Position The Position The Frontier Research group within Prescient Design seeks exceptional researchers who have a demonstrated research background in machine learning, a passion for independent research and technical problem-solving, and a proven ability to develop and implement ideas from research. The group provides a dynamic, challenging environment for cutting-edge machine learning research including access to heterogeneous data sources, close links to top academic institutions around the world, as well as internal Genentech Research and Early Development (gRED) partners and research units. The team’s mission is to work on basic and applied problems in machine learning research, while also being able to collaborate closely with and–contribute uniquely to–many different project teams across the company. The Role Participate in cutting-edge research in basic and applied machine learning. You will provide technical leadership in machine learning, driving and shaping research directions in Frontier Research, Prescient Design, and broadly across gRED. You will be expected to contribute to and drive publications, and present results at internal and external scientific conferences. Qualifications Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. At least one-year relevant work experience. Strong publication record and experience contributing to research communities, including conferences like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AISTATS, etc. Evidence of scientific independence and accomplishments comparable to assistant/associate/full professor at a top-tier research university, or equivalent managerial role in industry. Strong programming skills in languages like C/C , Python, and Java. Experience with one or more of the following: PyTorch, JAX. RAB-eligible employees For New York-based applicants, the expected salary range for this position is $164,000.00-$212,000.00. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits listed below.
