The group's main business is the implementation of mission critical digital mobile communication systems for Government & Public Safety Communications customers Job Description The VESTA Field Service Technician provides consultation to both internal and external customers on complex solutions being deployed in the field. Responsibilities include optimization and support of complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization and Broadband systems. Provide onsite technical support of VESTA 9-1-1 and NG 9-1-1 applications including advanced troubleshooting of software, preventive maintenance of the communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of the architecture including, but not limited to servers, routers, gateways, and data infrastructure. Performs site verification testing prior to cutting a site into a production environment Provides support to Customer and Channel Partners while deploying the Emergency Call Handling (ECH) solution into a production environment Documents all changes to the solution that may occur during the implementation phase of the project on Post Sale Document (PSD). Ensures that installation/quality issues are resolved in a timely and efficient manner Ensures that project-specific documentation is developed and stored as appropriate Participates in project planning meetings Maintains subject matter expert skills Interfaces with the local telephony office(s) to explain requirements. Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments Specific Knowledge/Skills: 2 year associate degree in electronics or IT preferred, or equivalent on-the-job experience Security , CompTIA or related certificate is highly desirable Experience with installation, administration, and troubleshooting of: Server Virtualization, specifically with VMWare ESXi v.6 and\or Microsoft Hyper-V 2012 Database Servers, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 and 2016 Server Operating Systems, specifically Windows Server 2012 R2, and 2019 Workstation Operating Systems, specifically Windows 7 & 10 Linux Network Switches, preferably with Cisco IOS PBX and Telephony Gateways Patch Panel Termination (Punch Down Block), and Cable color code. Able to comply with Government hardening standards Basic knowledge of Firewalls and Routers, preferably with Fortinet Fortigate. Server hardware / Workstation hardware Previous experience in Public Safety Applications deployment and integration and/or operations and administration preferred. Exercises judgment in the selection of methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Ability to work collaboratively with regional and territorial management. Ability to effectively communicate with relevant peers and senior stakeholders. Ability to apply critical thinking skills to solve problems and make decisions Basic Understanding of PRI, CAMA, and POTS Lines Computer literate with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access Candidate Requirements Candidate can live anywhere in the United States near a major airport Extensive travel is required with up to 85% travel Willing to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain background clearance as required by US government customer.
