Job Summary:

The Process Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing and maintaining the production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety in food production. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to improve existing processes, implement new technologies, and troubleshoot issues to enhance overall production performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Process Optimization: Continuously analyze and evaluate existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement in efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with quality assurance teams to develop and implement process controls to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • New Product Development: Work alongside R&D teams to scale up new products from development to full-scale production, ensuring smooth integration into new and existing processes.
  • Equipment Selection and Maintenance: Assist in the selection, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and technologies. Develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Data Analysis: Utilize data analytics tools to represent and analyze production data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions to improve process efficiency and quality.
  • Process Safety: Implement and maintain safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for employees and compliance with industry regulations.
  • Training and Documentation: Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for production staff on new processes and equipment. Maintain accurate documentation of process parameters, procedures, and equipment specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in cross-functional teams focused on continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean manufacturing, Root Cause analysis, or Kaizen to drive operational excellence.
  • Environmental Sustainability: Identify opportunities to minimize waste, reduce energy consumption, and improve overall environmental sustainability within the manufacturing processes.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of food processing principles, equipment, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills with internal and external partners.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality standards applicable to the food industry.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • May require occasional travel to supplier/vendor sites or other manufacturing facilities.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Food Engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years in the same or similar role, prefer within the food manufacturing industry.

Work Environment:

Exposure to both the office setting and food manufacturing facility.

  • Significant amount of time working at a computer station.
  • Occasional visits to various areas of the manufacturing floor.
  • Must wear required PPE while in all manufacturing areas.
  • Moving parts and machinery are present in the plant.

Physical demands:

  • Frequent sitting, standing, or walking.
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to physically perform functions of repetitive motion, grasping, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, balancing, and climbing.
  • Noise levels will vary, higher noise levels exist while in the plant operations areas.
