Glass Shift Supervisor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

• Able to answer any questions about any detail within your area and is able to correctly execute all details of the area process.  Considered an expert and expected to lead a team within an assigned area.
• Able to layout, build, assemble, and lead technical projects.
• Analyzes and resolves work problems or assists team members in solving work problems.
• Analyzes jobs to estimate worker hours and determines internal teamwork schedules.  Manage employee’s time clock (hours).
• Assigns job tasks to team members.
• Coaches and disciplines team members as needed.  
• Complete job ownership; including cross-shift and cross-job responsibility.
• Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for job and requisitions materials as needed.
• Conducts a daily job review to ensure the job is on target.
• Conducts employee performance reviews, and progressive discipline, as required.
• Conducts regularly scheduled counseling with team members. 
• Conducts internal quality remake review of assigned areas.
• Demonstrates a working technical knowledge of drawings, manuals, and specifications to determine the dimensions and tolerances of the finished workpiece.
• Demonstrates the ability to handle adjustments/ changes to the daily production schedule.
• Demonstrates the ability to operate all production equipment assigned, including forklift.
• Demonstrates the ability to track all jobs within the area of responsibility.
• Demonstrates the ability to use quality tools to verify conformance of material to specifications.
• Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods and quality.
• Directs workers in reworking products that fail to meet quality standards.
• Ensures job progress is documented with pictures.
• Establishes or adjusts work processes to meet production schedule.  
• Inspects and measures product dimensions to determine the accuracy of production processes; verifies and enforces quality conformance to specifications.
• Inspects product for blemishes or non-conformities.  Reorders non-conforming materials.
• Ensures all safety procedures and company policies are followed. Ensures that all protective equipment (guards, PPE, etc.) are used at each step of the job.
• Ensures that each job is completed & delivered to shipping on time, under budget, and at 100% quality.
• Ensures the work area is maintained at a high state of cleanliness.
• Ensures the job is profitable.  Completes end of job review/report. 
• Ensures required tools and equipment are available and in working condition.
• Ensures team members are properly trained on all machinery and tools.
• Ensures team members are meeting the team targets for on-time delivery (OTD).
• Ensures team members are meeting the team targets for Internal and External Quality.
• Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met.
• Interprets specifications, prints, and job orders and is able to communicate them to team members.
• Leads and directs a production team to complete jobs/projects on-time, under budget, and at 100% quality.
• Maintain a positive team morale and working environment.
• Notifies the Operations Manager immediately with any issues or concerns, including quality.
• Overtime hours are often required to perform the essential functions of the job.
• Performs special projects, other duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
• Plans to flow of materials through the production cells to ensure prompt delivery of materials to the job. 
• Provides a reason for not achieving the job target numbers.
• Provides suggestions and feedback for continuous process improvement.
• Provides communication links for all team members.
• Provides the training and mentorship necessary for team member’s technical development.
• Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality.
• Records necessary measurements.
• Refers extensive machine repairs to maintenance personnel.
• Reorders non-conforming materials.
• Resolves all quality issues prior to delivering jobs to shipping
• Strives to improve job quality. Ensures that quality is 100% at each step of the production process.
• Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of job & team.
• Trains team members in production procedures, processes, and policies.
