Establish expectations of direct reports and ensure expectations are met or exceeded. Ensure direct reports are adequately trained to perform their duties. Work towards building a cohesive team that is flexible and able to work cooperatively. Assist personnel in the development of technical, interpersonal, and transferable skills. Coach personnel by focusing on their strengths and suggesting ways for growth and improvement. Drive and empower decision making to the lowest level in the organization Effectively communicate direction, objectives, and results as needed to the department, Tippecanoe plant site, and Evonik Be a positive supporter of departmental and/or site goals and works towards their effective implementation. Communicate in a thoughtful and productive manner that promotes and improves functional relationships through all levels of the organization. Complete HR activities such as shift assignments, vacation planning, talent assessment, interim/final reviews, performance ratings, and merit delivery. Work with peers across areas to share learning, operations, issues, and resources Ensure accurate time entry documentation. Assign resources to ensure adequate coverage for off time such as illnesses, vacation, and medical leaves. Detect and resolve conflicts before harm is caused to people, relationships, or processes. Build/create the safety culture in the department, Tippecanoe plant site, and Evonik Business Understand Tippecanoe priorities to better manage the business of the site and ensure that warehouse activities align appropriately Understand site and Evonik priorities to better manage departmental activities (i.e., “see the big picture”). Support development of appropriate processes and metrics and use them to help manage the business Work with customer departments to facilitate efficient management of their product and service needs. Provide strategic guidance to drive site expense control and optimization Complete required training as outlined in the Learning Plan. Seek out additional data in order to be a more effective leader. Be supportive of TLT and business line management decisions. Be devoted to Evonik, your department, and team members regardless of their position as superior or subordinate. Serve as lead investigator, change owner, and procedure/training subject matter expert. Be diligent in completing associated activities on time. Demonstrate ownership of procedures/work instructions Manage all areas of an assigned process (quality, safety, environment, equipment, materials, product, etc.) to ensure the business meets timelines Be an advocate and champion for change initiatives which can improve current procedures, method, processes, etc. Identify, lead, investigate, and implement changes as necessary. Actively seek ways to improve the process, reduce costs, and make the working environment safer Ensure practice matches procedure Create business documentation – Deviations, Root cause investigations, Housekeeping walkthroughs, etc. Understand processes in the area and troubleshoot processing issues Ensure production schedule is met which includes batch production records accuracy, raw material availability, and timely sampling, dispensing, and check weighing activities Responsible for tracking and completion of safety audits Exhibit the mindset that “failure is not an option”. Lead by example. REQUIREMENTS High school diploma and a two-year technical degree or five years of leadership experience Bachelor’s Degree preferred Minimum 15 years business/industrial experience preferred Previous supervisory experience Strong decision-making skills Proven leadership skills with emphasis in coaching/mentoring for performance improvement. Ability to manage a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the business. Organizational skills including planning and prioritization of assignments. Proven ability to contribute to a positive, productive work environment. Proven ability to lead a group of people towards a set of common objectives. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication and listening skills. Demonstrated effective conflict resolution skills. Knowledge and / or experience with GMPs. Must be computer literate and be proficient in using Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP. Ability to focus on continuous improvement and results oriented initiatives. Ability to leverage experience, training, and information to accomplish goals. Accurate and proficient analytical skills. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work in a heavily regulated environment. Self-directed, self-managed, reliable, and capable of success with minimal supervision. Ability to communicate and provide good customer service to internal and external organizations.
